The role of cultural capital in strengthening social trust in Iran

Abstract

In this paper, the role of cultural capital in strengthening social trust has been studied. Social trust is one of the most important components of social development and the spread of modernity and is one of the important aspects of social relations. Cultural capital, which is an indicator of cultural development, with a combination of indicators, individual tendencies and tendencies toward the use of cultural goods, the extent to which cultural goods are used objectively and the scientific and cultural qualities of a person can affect social trust. The research approach is descriptive-causal and has been done in a cross-sectional and time-based manner. The statistical population includes women and men over 18 years old, with a sample size of 380 people. Findings of the research showed that there is a relatively high correlation between cultural capital and social trust and this correlation is statistically significant. Similarly, the results of regression analysis showed that the variables of cultural capital, income and education of the individual and the responsible parent were 64% of the total dependent variable variation, but the share of the main variable of the research, namely, cultural capital, was 33% in this explanation.
