Accordingly, the primary purpose of this paper is to estimate the demand function of the defense budget in 13 Middle East countries from 1995 to 2014. For this purpose, a general model of defense spending was designed for these countries, and then it was evaluated by System Generalized Method of Moments (SGMM) in a dynamic panel data model. The results of model estimation show that non-defense expenditure (as the opportunity cost of defense expenditure) and the trade balance had negative effects on the defense burden of Middle East countries. The population variable, although at a significantly lower level than other variables, has had a positive impact on the defense burden of the Middle East countries, indicating that defense is a public good. The variables of per capita income, the share of armed forces personnel (% of the total workforce) and the lagged defense burden, as expected, have had a positive impact on the defense burden of the Middle East countries. The average defense burden of all Middle East countries has a positive effect on the defense burden of the countries in this region, indicating an arms race between these countries. Also, the dummy variable of oil-exporting countries and net democracy variable, respectively, have had positive and negative effects on the defense burden of the Middle East countries.JEL Classification: C23, D74, H56, O57}, keywords = {Defense Burden,demand,Middle East Countries,System Generalized Method of Moments}, title_fa = {برآورد تابع تقاضای پویای مخارج دفاعی (مورد مطالعه: کشورهای سند چشم‌انداز 1404)}, abstract_fa = {حساسیت منطقه خاورمیانه و وجود مناقشات همیشگی در آن، سبب شده است سهم قابل توجهی از تولید ناخالص داخلی کشورهای این منطقه، به‌ بخش دفاعی اختصاص داده شود. بر این اساس، هدف اصلی مقاله حاضر، برآورد تابع تقاضای مخارج دفاعی در 13 کشور خاورمیانه در سال‌های 2014-1995 است. به این منظور یک مدل عمومی مخارج دفاعی برای این کشورها طراحی و به منظور برآورد آن از روش گشتاورهای تعمیم‌یافته سیستمی در قالب داده‌های ترکیبی پویا استفاده شده است. نتایج برآورد مدل نشان می‌دهد متغیرهای مخارج غیردفاعی (به عنوان هزینه‌فرصت مخارج دفاعی) و تراز تجاری، اثر منفی بر بار دفاعی کشورهای خاورمیانه داشته‌اند. جمعیت، در سطح معناداری پایین‌تری نسبت به سایر متغیرها، اثر مثبتی بر بار دفاعی کشورهای خاورمیانه داشته‌ است که نشان می‌دهد دفاع یک کالای عمومی است. متغیرهای درآمد سرانه، سهم پرسنل نیروهای مسلح از کل نیروی کار و وقفه بار دفاعی، مطابق انتظار، تأثیر مثبتی بر بار دفاعی کشورهای خاورمیانه داشته‌اند. متوسط بار دفاعی کشورهای خاورمیانه نیز بر بار دفاعی کشورهای این منطقه، اثر مثبتی داشته است که حاکی از وجود رقابتی تسلیحاتی بین کشورهای خاورمیانه است. همچنین، متغیر مجازی کشورهای نفتی و متغیر خالص دموکراسی، به ترتیب اثر مثبت و منفی بر بار دفاعی کشورهای خاورمیانه داشته‌اند.طبقه‌بندی : C23, D74, H56, O57}, keywords_fa = {بار دفاعی,تقاضا,کشورهای خاورمیانه,گشتاورهای تعمیم‌یافته سیستمی (SGMM)}, url = {https://www.jmsp.ir/article_60908.html}, eprint = {https://www.jmsp.ir/article_60908_6d3da23d6eb636d4563476b4f4c9c745.pdf} }
